Trustee / Secretary

Trustee / Secretary

ChaplaincyPlus is seeking to appoint a committed and passionate individual with appropriate skills and experience to join our Board of Trustees as Secretary.

We are keen to hear from committed Christians, with a heart and desire for living out faith in the workplace and helping and supporting others to do the same.

We are seeking someone with a legal background, preferably in a Not-for-Profit organisation, to join our Board of Trustees as Secretary.

The responsibilities of the secretary include:

  • Ensuring compliance with company and charity law: This includes updating the Articles of Association, maintaining accurate records of trustees and directors, and preparing and filing annual returns with Companies House and the Charity Commission.
  • Supporting the board of directors: This involves organizing board meetings, preparing agendas, taking minutes, and ensuring that decisions are implemented in accordance with the charity’s governing document.

Trustees play an active role in governing the charity, setting vision, strategic priorities, and ensuring the charity complies with legal, charitable, and financial requirements. This is a great opportunity to make a real difference to how faith is lived out in the workplaces of the city.

The Board meet 8-10 times a year and Trustees are expected to support and attend any additional events for the Network. Following an initial conversation, the ‘ChaplaincyPlus Trustees Handbook’ and ‘ChaplaincyPlus Memorandum and Articles of Association’ can be made available.

ChaplaincyPlus is a Christian Charity, and all the Trustees must promote and safeguard the charitable purposes for which ChaplaincyPlus exists. These purposes are ‘the advancement of the Christian faith and the promotion of Christian principles and teaching in all aspects of human relationships.’ It is therefore essential that all Board Members are active and practising Christians and are ideally in good fellowship with their own church.
