Welcome back to those of you who have been away. I trust you enjoyed your ‘Holy Days’ and during that time enjoyed rest and relaxation whilst drawing closer to Jesus, family and friends as you spent quality time with them.
I do hope that by now you realise that Jesus is passionate about your work, is present in your workplaces and that work is not just another four letter word – it is actually spelt
Colossians 3 v 23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” Work is worship – the Hebrew word “Avodah” is the root word from which we get the words work and worship. Through our work we worship Jesus. As Ken Costa says in his book ‘God at Work’ your Work Station is your Worship Station.
Genesis 1:31: Work is part of God’s character. Having ‘worked’ at creation He looked and saw “it was very good.” If we are in the place Jesus wants us to be using the gifts and abilities he has given us we should be able to say this about our work.
Matthew 28:20: “and surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” “always” means just that! Jesus is with us in our workplaces and not just on Sunday at church.
1 Corinthians 10 v 31: “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” Whatever you do, and that includes work, do it for the glory of God.
