15 members of ChaplaincyPlus made a 6 week Retreat in Daily Working Life which ended on Friday 23 April with a closing meeting at Cathedral Heights.
Pilgrims, who were on Retreat, had individual weekly meetings with a prayer guide, from Manresa Link, with whom they shared their prayer experience. The prayer guides gave Pilgrims passages of scripture to prayerfully consider during the following week. For many Pilgrims this was their first experience of this type of prayer retreat.
This is what they had to say:
Warm thanks to my prayer guide for making the time for this – what a gift!
The best bit for me was the discipline of spending time listening to God everyday knowing that I would be asked about it.
I enjoyed having passages of scripture on which to reflect each week.
Praying into the passages over the week and hearing God speak in a fresh way through what are quite familiar passages. Being able to talk through issues with a guide in a “safe place”.
I found a stillness in prayer that I had not expected and I was able to slow down each day and just “be” with God.
Thanks to all who helped to organise the event – really loved it and have been excited and motivated to spend more time in prayer using the Ignatian techniques.
We are very grateful to the prayer guides who are all volunteers who gave so much of their time and were so flexible in meeting Pilgrims at times and places that were convenient in the midst of busy working lives!
