Half day contemplative retreat
“The peace we seek is already here”
The Retreat will give space for us to go deeper in our connection with God. When we are so busy with responsibilities and activity, we can forget that, through Jesus, God speaks a simple, radical, often challenging message: the peace we seek is already here, buried in the field of our lives like a precious jewel, even as our lives can feel very far from being peaceful.
Why is this peace hidden from us so much of the time? Because we cover it with a veil of mental noise and clutter, then look for it in the wrong place, in the wrong way, using the wrong tools.
Meditation is a simple way of parting this veil of mental noise, so we can be reacquainted with Him – the true peace that is always present.
Through a programme of silent meditation, talks and conversation, we will consider:
- The peace we seek is already here;
- The interior skills that uncover this ever-present peace;
- The challenges we can face in our practice;
- How we become places of peace in the world.
“Meditation in the Christian tradition is a simple practice through which we are gathered and unified and learn to be present. And as we learn to be present, we discover the peace we seek is always present.”
