Light Read Plus met on Monday 13 May to review the current books.
There had been unanimous enjoyment of Hinds Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnard. Everyone who had read the book felt that it had spoken to them in some way about their spiritual journey or was relevant to something that was currently happening to them. We agreed that this was a book that could be given to someone who had a spiritual awareness but perhaps not faith.
The general consensus about Cross Roads by Wm Paul Young was that this book was not as good as The Shack and there was a general sense of disappointment about it. Someone was keen to praise a couple of the chapters for their humour which caused her to laugh out loud while reading!
The Workplace edition of Christianity Magazine was highly praised by those who had read it as being well written and very relevant to workplace issues.
Not everyone had managed to read The Pilgrim’s Progress although it did remain the aspiration of everyone to try to read this classic literature perhaps over the summer holiday period.
It was agreed to set an ambitious reading list for the coming summer months which excluded any fiction! We have chosen to read the following:
All these publications are available at Christian bookshops although links have been provided to online retailers for convenience. We will be meeting again in September to review these books. Happy summer reading everyone!
